Staying in Shape in 2018

Achieving your resolution of getting in a little better shape this year can be tough when you lead a busy life. Gym memberships are difficult to maintain, workout time is limited, and sometimes you just feel drained after a long day of driving.

But it's not impossible to stay fit even with a full lifestyle and you don't even need to make it into the gym everyday. Mix some of these exercises into your daily routine, and you'll find that your resolution isn't so tough to keep after all.

Jump Squats

Bend your knees into a crouching position until your thighs are perpendicular to your shins. Instead of rising back to a standing position as you would for a normal squat, push off of the floor and jump as high as you possibly can.

Cross your arms in front of you to prevent them from assisting you with the jump. In each workout session, try to complete three sets of ten jump squats.

Elevated Push Ups

This exercise is a simple pushup, but with your feet elevated in the air. You can elevate your feet on your couch, a chair, or a number of items around your household or local park.

Perform these just like you would a standard push up, but instead of doing the repetitions quickly, pause each push up for a few seconds when your chest is near the ground. Aim for three sets of 15 reps, and you'll know your arms are in good shape.

Leg Raises

Work your lower abdominal muscles by laying with your back flat on the ground and your hands loose at your sides. Lift your legs up together until they are perpendicular to your body (or as close to perpendicular as you can get them). See if you can work up to three sets of 15 reps with this exercise.
